Our sustainable mission: true and honest
We want our children to discover all the beautiful fauna en flora on earth. But of course, we don’t want our products to harm nature either. Therefore, we take various steps based on the international Sustainable Development Goals:
Good health & wellbeing
After a day of playing outside, kids will definitely have a good sleep at night and they will have so many stories to remember forever. Going outside in the fresh air will avoid them from stress and depressions and will keep them healthy and fit. As chemicals in clothing can affect your health in the long term, we make sure that all of our products are tested on harmful substances to guarantee safe products.
Responsible consumption and production
We explore innovative packaging alternatives like reusable containers and packaging made from recycled materials. We are also proud to say that many items are made of 100% recycled Polyester. In that way, we are able to give a new life to used clothing, fabrics, fibres and PET bottles. On top, a Ducksday rain or winter item will protect your kids’ clothing from wearing out so you will save up many clothes. On top, we always encourage customers to repair and maintain products rather than replacing them.
Clean water and sanitation
We have implemented a waste management system to cleanse all of the water that is used during production. With our rain and winter gear, people can also save a lot of water: When you wear a Ducksday, you protect your clothes underneath so you can wash them less. On top, you don’t need to wash our gear often: just let them dry, wipe off the dirt with a wet cloth and you are ready for your next adventure.
Decent work and economic growth
We are convinced that every person in the making of our clothing should be rewarded fairly. We only collaborate with suppliers who share similar sustainability values and adhere to fair labour practices. There is no child labour and all our co-workers have a fair wage, protected rights by a union and all the holidays they deserve. We always respect the given production prices and we also accept possible delays.
Climate action
As our production is based in China, our clothes have a long way of traveling to our warehouse in Belgium. We try to avoid unnecessary transport as much as possible by delivering directly from our production unit to our biggest clients. For the smaller shops, we ship our collection all at once to Belgium and we take on further deliveries. Hereby, we reuse boxes and we fill them to the brim. In the past, we even managed to transport the entire rain collection by train to Europe! In the future, we would love to do this more often. We offer a detailed size chart to reduce returns of online orders as much as possible.
Gender equality
Did you know that almost all of the co-workers at Ducksday are women? We work together as one (small) family and we don’t make a difference between men and women on the work floor. Ducksday was founded more than 10 years ago by Bettina Van Haute, who has been our CEO ever since.
Ducksday is becoming even more sustainable and environmentally responsible every day. But of course, it is an ongoing journey that requires commitment and continuous improvement. We cannot wait to get feedback or new ideas from you.
Together, we have to protect nature in order to make this planet a beautiful place for our children to grow up and explore without worries!
